Parker Scores Second Bracelet

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Las Vegas, NV--The 2009 World Series of Poker $2,500 buy-in Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em champion is Brock Parker, from Silver Spring, MD. This marked his second tournament victory in this year's WSOP. He said of his success, "I can't describe this. This is just unreal. It actually does not feel real to me."

When asked about his 6-handed skills, Parker said, "I like to play more hands. Playing nine-handed is pretty boring. I guess Six-Handed gets me more motivated because I get to play in a lot of pots."

Parker won his first gold bracelet of this year (and his career) four days ago. Since then he says, "I played this tournament. That's it. I went out and I ate and went home and tried to sleep--and I couldn't.  So, I woke up with no sleep and played this tournament. Then, it was until 1 am the first day and until 3 am the second day….I haven't had much time to do much else other than sleep and play poker."

The two wins and four cashes of the year have pushed Parker to the top of the "Player of the Year" standings, and he says, "I'm excited for ‘Player of the Year.'  I want to try for that, for sure.  Especially now that they are making a big deal out of it."
