#48 UNLV 7, SOUTHERN UTAH 0

At Fertitta Tennis Complex, Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- The 48th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 7-0 whitewash of nearby Southern Utah at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Friday.

The Lady Rebels won their ninth consecutive match en route to improving to 16-6 overall. The Thunderbirds, out of the Summit League, fell to 9-9.

UNLV began the morning by taking all three doubles matches in quick fashion. Kristina Nedeltcheva and Katy Williams won 8-3 at No. 1, Alisa Razina and Anna Maskaljun won 8-0 at No. 2 and Nikol Dimitrova and Adrienn Hidvegi won 8-0 on court three.

UNLV did not lose a set in singles play. Nedeltcheva, ranked 125th nationally, downed Ksusha Nazarova 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1; Dimitrova won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2, Williams breezed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3; Maskaljun won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4; Hidvegi won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 and Razina nearly blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-1 on court six.

The Lady Rebels, undefeated at 6-0 and all alone in first place in the Mountain West Conference, will close out their regular season with two key home matches next weekend.  UNLV hosts No. 57 Utah on Friday beginning with doubles at 10 a.m. and then No. 58 BYU for Senior Day 2009 on April 18, also with a 10 a.m. start time.
