UNLV Women Netters Down Falcons

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--The 46th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team won its fifth consecutive match to stay in a two-way tie for first place, 5-2 over Air Force at the Academy's indoor courts on Friday.

The Lady Rebels, who are tied with BYU for first place in the Mountain West Conference, improved to 13-6 and 4-0 in the league while the Falcons fell to 9-12 and 0-4.

UNLV earned a tough doubles point by taking all three matches. Kristina Nedeltcheva and Katy Williams won 8-2 at No. 1, Alisa Razina and Anna Maskaljun won 9-8 at No. 2 and Nikol Dimitrova and Rumyana Terzieva teamed up for a 9-8 victory on court three.

In singles, UNLV got straight-sets wins on four courts to clinch the team victory. Nedeltcheva won 6-2, 6-1 over Christen Monreal at the top spot, Williams downed Allie Chermel 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3, Hidvegi got her 20th win of the season with a 6-3, 7-6 final over Sarah Cassman at No. 4 and Terzieva swept Shelley Johnson 6-1, 6-1 on court six.

Next up, UNLV takes on Wyoming in Colorado Springs on Saturday morning.
