Which sport(s) do you play? Bowling What school do you attend? Coronado High School How long have you competed and what motivated you to get involved in your sport? I have been bowling leagues since I was 6 years old and been bowling competitively since I was 12. Watching my parents bowl when I was little motivated me to get involved in bowling. What do you like most about your sport? I love the fact that bowling isn’t always competitive and not only do you play by yourself, but that there is a team aspect to it. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV and why? I love watching NASCAR. I enjoy watching the fast pace of the cars and how both the driver and the team have to be working together if they want their car to be in victory lane at the end. Who is your favorite athlete or person you draw inspiration from? My Parents; they have been there for me since day one. My mom inspires me because she always puts others first and will do anything for anyone. My dad inspires me also because he works so hard and always seems to pop out of no where when I didn’t think he would be at a match. Do you think that being an athlete helps or hinders you with your academic studies? I believe that being an athlete helps me with my academic studies because if I am not doing well in school then I can’t bowl. Therefore I always keep my grades up so I don’t lose the opportunity to bowl. What is the biggest challenge for a student/athlete? The biggest challenge for being a student/athlete is keeping your grades up and still being able to spend time with your family and friends. I believe that you have to keep a schedule where you can do your school work, practice your sport, and still have time for the ones that support you in what you do. Do you plan on pursuing your sport at the college level? Yes, I plan on attending UNLV in the fall and to be on their bowling team. Right now it is only a club but we still get to compete with the best schools in the U.S. Please list any accomplishments you are proud of achieving in your sport: Shooting an 808 in State Finals, bowling a 297 during regular season, placing 5th in the JBT main event, 2007 MVP, averaging over a 210 both years for high school, placing 69th out of a field of 489 ladies in my 1st Jr. Gold last year in Buffalo, and winning the JST Finals in 2006.
