You can call him “Pretty Boy,” or you can call him, “Money.” But what you better call him is the greatest fighter ever. Floyd Mayweather Jr. proved that he is the greatest boxer to ever walk this planet by defeating Ricky Hatton on Saturday night at that the MGM grand arena. Mayweather used his impeccable defensive style to wear down the feisty Hatton and knock him out in the 10th round. Hatton also undefeated before the bout at 43-0 was the aggressor most of the fight but Mayweather showed why he was the greatest, by handling Hatton by pot shooting him the whole fight. He would pick his shots every round and when they landed they hurt Hatton every time. Hatton kept coming at Mayweather in the early rounds of the fight but he began to wear down and that hurt him in the later rounds. Mayweather cut Hatton over the eye in the third round but it didn’t seem to stop the Englishmen one bit. Hatton would chase Mayweather around the ring get in good shots when he trapped him in the corner. The shots didn’t seem to bother Floyd at all and when it came down to getting Hatton in the center of the ring that’s when Mayweather would do his damager. In the 10th round Mayweather pounded Hatton with two quick shots that sent him head first into the corner pad in the ring, Hatton bounced off the pad and landed on his back. He would get back up on a standing eight count. Then Mayweather finished him off with another quick power punch and sent Hatton to the canvas again for the final time. Hatton’s corner threw in the towel but it didn’t look like he was getting back up. Mayweather said after the fight that he was done with boxing and its time to concentrate on his promotions. This puts in a category all his own IF he continues to stay retired. Mayweather needs to learn from all the other boxers that he is going down in history as the best of all time. He has five titles in five weight classes and is 39-0. What else does he have to prove now he is just going to get old and count his millions. But there is always that chance and you have heard it from every boxing great before him that they come out of retirement and box again end up ruining there legacy. Mayweather needs to relax and concentrate on his promoting company like he said he was. -Mike Sims
