Doolittle Tot Sports Skills Sessions Begin October 30 |
October 1, 2007 The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services invites children ages 3 to 5 to learn basic sports skills in six-week sessions that begin Oct. 30 at the Doolittle Community Center gymnasium.
Youth may learn flag football on Tuesdays, T-ball basics on Wednesdays and basketball skills on Thursdays, each from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Each sport is priced at $15 for the six-week session. Children also may select the Sports Sampler class, taught from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. Priced at $25, this class features a different sport each week for six weeks. Brain research confirms that physical activity actually enhances the learning process in children. Recreational activities are powerful ways to refine children’s social, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Registration for the classes is open Oct. 13 through 26. The center is located at 1950 N. J St., near the corner of Lake Mead Boulevard. Participants are to wear rubber-soled athletic shoes and comfortable clothing. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe. For more information or to register, call (702) 229-6374 or 229-1734. -end- |
