Las Vegas Showgirlz season opener |

On Saturday night the Las Vegas Showgirlz took the football field at Desert Pines H.S. to open their second season. A great first half effort kept them in the game against the powerhouse SoCal Scorpions but ended in defeat, (14-36).
Down 7-14 late in the first half the Showgirlz broke away with an amazing 50 yard run to tie the game at 14, but just before half the Scorpions were able to put one more touchdown and a two point conversion on the scoreboard to go into the locker rooms with a 14-22 lead.The bigger SoCal team was just too much for the local Showgirlz, but over all a great effort on both sides of the ball. The second year shows great promise for this group of hard working girls. Changes have obviously been made in the teams second year and countless victories are in their near future.
The other noticeable difference in year two was in the production of the game. Talented cheerleaders, good and timely music along with great concessions, merchandise and programs made the experience a wonderful night out for the family. It was proven in the 850+ that showed up for game 1!
