August 24, 2007 Tonight marked the first night of High School Football in Southern Nevada. While perennial powerhouses, Las Vegas Wildcats and Gorman Gaels will be as powerful as always, there are a few teams that just might contend this year. Two of which were pitted against each other on opening night but couldn’t get in a complete; Del Sol HS vs. Canyon Springs HS.
Canyon Springs HS returns star QB, Devonte Christopher, but Del Sol HS is one on the biggest teams in the trenches throughout the valley. However, on this night the game was called due to lights. The power had gone off three times throughout the game and when they went off again in the third quarter the officials called the game a no contest.
Another note on opening night is the first home game for Rancho in three years. Finally their field is done and they opened play in great fashion winning 31-17 over Liberty. That makes the Rancho Rams undefeated on the new field. Let’s see how long they can keep that streak alive.
