51s Host Defending PCL Champion Tucson and Fresno in Seven-Game Home Stand

The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will return to Cashman Field for a seven-game home stand from Wednesday, June 27 through Tuesday, July 3.

Las Vegas will host the defending PCL & Triple-A champions, the Tucson Sidewinders, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a three-game series from Wednesday-Friday, June 27-29, with all games at 7:11 p.m.  The 51s will then host the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in a four-game series from Saturday-Tuesday, June 30 – July 3.

The 51s, under first-year manager Lorenzo Bundy, are concluding a brief four-game road trip in Fresno, Calif., against the Grizzlies on Tuesday night.  Las Vegas has a record of 34-42 in the Pacific Southern Division and trail first-place Sacramento by 8 ½ games.

The opener of the home stand on Wednesday will feature Dollar Hot Dog Night.  The Thursday contest (June 28) will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night.  Every Thursday home game throughout the season will feature Dollar Beer Night.

Las Vegas’ series opener against Fresno on Saturday, June 30 will begin at 7:11 p.m.  The game will feature the first of two “Holiday Fireworks Shows” to help celebrate the 4th of July!  The Las Vegas Review-Journal will present Saturday’s post game fireworks show. The “RJ” will also sponsor United Way Night.  The United Way of Southern Nevada is celebrating 50 years (1957-2007) and the Review-Journal will donate $1.00 to the United Way for every fan in attendance.

Game two of the series on Sunday, July 1 will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m. and game three of the series on Tuesday, July 2 will begin at 7:11 p.m.

The finale of the home stand on Tuesday, July 3 at 7:11 p.m. will feature the traditional “Fireworks Extravaganza.”  The post game fireworks show is presented by Anderson Dairy, celebrating 100 years (1907-2007) in Southern Nevada.

In 2006, the Sidewinders compiled a Triple-A best 91-52 record (.632) and captured both the PCL and Triple-A championships.  The Sidewinders have one player on their roster that is ranked in Baseball America’s Top-10 prospect list for the Diamondbacks: infielder Alberto Callaspo (No. 4.).

The Grizzlies have three players on their roster that are ranked in Baseball America’s Top-10 prospect list for the San Francisco system: RHP Brian Wilson (No. 5), OF Fred Lewis (No. 7) and RHP Billy Sadler (No. 10).

Following the seven-game home stand, the 51s will embark on a five-game road trip to Tucson, Ariz., from Wednesday-Sunday, July 4-8. The three-day Triple-A All-Star break will run from Monday-Wednesday, July 9-11. The Triple-A All-Star Game, featuring the International League vs. Pacific Coast League, will be played on Wednesday, July 11 at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, N.M. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN2 at 4:30 p.m. (PDT).

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field Box Office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com). TicketMaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug, Ritmo Latino and Macy’s, located at The Fashion Show & The Galleria Mall.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $8.00 (general admission), $9.00 (reserved), $11.00 (plaza) and $13 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season except for the holiday fireworks shows on June 30 & July 3. All tickets for the two “Holiday Fireworks Shows” are $13.00.
