May 20, 2007 The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services invites boys and girls ages 3 to 14 to participate in summer Saturday basketball leagues that begin June 16 at Brinley Community School.
The weekly leagues continue for six weeks. The cost is $35 for ages 3 to 4, $45 for ages 5 to 6, and $65 for ages 7 to 14. Included in the cost are a T-shirt or jersey, participation award, instruction, weekly practice and weekly game. Basketballs will be provided. Registration remains open until leagues are full or June 11. Volunteer coaches are needed. A coaches’ meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, at 6 p.m. A parents’ meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 11, at 6 p.m. in the Brinley Middle School cafeteria. Academy-style practices will begin the week of June 11 in the Brinley Middle School gymnasium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Brinley Community School is located at 6150 Smoke Ranch Road. The leagues are offered by Brinley Community School, which promotes community through fostering healthy lifestyles. The community school routinely offers music lessons, parenting workshops, a pre-kindergarten program, after-school programs for youth ages 11 and older, youth and adult sports, and English as a second language for adults.
