Bishop Gorman wins Baseball State Championship |
|
May 20, 2007 The Bishop Gorman Gaels defeated Galena High School 4-3 in the controversial state finals of the baseball tournament on Saturday, May 19th. The win gave Gorman back-to-back state titles for the first time in school history.
Initially, the Gaels scored the winning run in the 7th inning on a single by Jeff Malm. But Galena protested that the runners on first and second didn’t reach their respective bases after the winning run scored and were tagged out, negating the run. In the bottom of the eighth, though, the Gaels loaded the bases and Malm delivered the game-winning RBI.
