May 7, 2007 The UNLV men's golf team, ranked No. 6 in the nation in Golfstat's rankings, has been awarded the third seed at the NCAA West Regional, which will be played at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz., beginning Thursday, May 17, the NCAA announced Monday. UNLV men's golf invited to 19th straight regional tournament.
Three regional tournaments, encompassing the current nine sub-regions, will be played May 17-19. A total of 27 teams and six individuals not on selected teams were assigned to each regional site. The other regional sites are The Golf Club of Georgia (East) in Alpharetta, Ga., and Rich Harvest Farms (Central) in Sugar Grove, Ill. Ten teams and two individuals not on advancing teams will move on from each regional to the championship finals. The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship will be conducted May 30-June 2 at the Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va. Virginia Commonwealth University is the host institution for this year's championship. Listed below are the teams and individuals selected to participate in the West Regional. Teams winning automatic qualification are designated by their conferences in parenthesis. UNLV finished second at the Mountain West Conference Championship, April 26-28, in its last outing.
