Wranglers Sweep Roadrunners |
April 14, 2007 The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners 3-2 on Saturday night in front of 5,282 fans at the Orleans Arena. With the win Las Vegas sweeps the Roadrunners out of the playoffs and advances to the National Conference Semi Finals.
Wranglers’ defensemen Aaron Power and Ryan Bonni, as well as center Tyler Mosienko each scored as Las Vegas won its’ 11th straight game at home. Goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 31 saves for his second straight win in the playoffs. Phoenix wingers Cam Paddock and Todd Jackson scored for the Roadrunners in the loss. The Wranglers will host the second round of the playoffs when an opponent is determined.
In the first period, Las Vegas jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Tyler Mosienko hammered home the loose puck at the top of the crease on the power play.
In the second period, Las Vegas added to the lead when Ryan Bonni scored his first goal of the playoffs at 5:45, extending the lead to 2-0. The Roadrunners clawed back when Cam Paddock scored his second playoff goal, cutting the Wranglers lead to 2-1. Aaron Power ripped home a power-play goal at 12:34, giving the Wranglers’ a 3-1 lead.
