The Gladiators cut Shaun King and more

The Las Vegas Gladiators have waived quarterback Shaun King it was announced by President Sam Jankovich and Head Coach Danton Barto today. The decision came after a 65-31 home loss at the Orleans Arena on Sunday.

King who was signed back in December of 2006, started the first six games for the Gladiators, who enter their week seven game at Georgia at 1-5.

The Gladiators have also relieved Defensive Line Coach Brian Kelly of his duties. Kelly was in his first season in the Arena Football League with the Gladiators as Defensive Line Coach. The Gladiators currently rank 15th in the AFL with only four sacks and rank 18th in the League in rushing yards allowed per game with 32.7.

The Gladiators also waived defensive backs Vontez Duff and Dahnel Singfield. Duff who was has played in both the NFL and NFL Europe, was in his first season in the Arena Football League with the Las Vegas Gladiators. Singfield, who was acquired through a trade with New York in early March, played in New York in 2006 and under Coach Barto in 2004 and 2005 in the af2 with the Memphis Xplorers. 

The Gladiators go on the road next week as they take on the Georgia Force next Sunday, April 15th at 12:30 PST. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Net and Jerseys Bar and Grill will host a Gladiators viewing party.
