March 18, 2007 New Orleans VooDoo quarterback Andy Kelly threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns to lead the VooDoo to a 59-31 victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators on Sunday in Las Vegas. The win runs the VooDoo’s record to 2-1 and drops Las Vegas to 1-2. Kelly was named offensive player of the game for his efforts.
Las Vegas had several chances to go up by two touchdowns in the first half after forcing three stops on defense, but the offense never got on track. Gladiators quarterback completed only 18 of 40 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns while throwing two picks. Trailing 14-10 at halftime, the VooDoo outscored the Gladiators 21-0 in the third quarter to put the game away. Las Vegas was led by receiver Etu Molden, who caught 10 passes for 113 yards and one score. Kevin Prentiss, who set an Arena Football League record with nine touchdown receptions last week, was held to only three receptions, missing most of the second half with a tweaked hamstring. Kenny Henderson led the VooDoo with 10 catches for 104 and 1 touchdown and Tyrone Jones , who was named ironman of the game, had three TD receptions to pace the VooDoo. The Gladiators hit the road in Week 3 as they travel to Arizona to take on the Rattlers on Friday, March 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 PM PT and can be heard on FOX Sportsradio 1460 in Las Vegas.
