UNLV LAUDED FOR CHURNING OUT PRO GOLFERS

February 11, 2007
Atlanta Journal-Constitution story says when it comes to bragging rights on the PGA Tour, UNLV can't be touched

According to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution story written by Stan Awtrey in the Feb. 10, 2007 edition, when it comes to bragging rights on the PGA Tour, UNLV can't be touched.

Based on last week's World Golf Rankings, according to the article, a four-man team made up of UNLV golf program alums would easily beat any other college team.

Awtrey wrote the Rebels would field a foursome made up of Adam Scott (No. 3), Chad Campbell (35), Ryan Moore (75) and Charley Hoffman (93). UNLV's starting foursome, which has totaled eight career PGA wins, averages 51.5 in the world rankings, far better than second-place Arizona State's 94.75 average.

Arizona State is led in its foursome of alums by Phil Mickelson and Florida is a close third led by Chris DiMarco.

Stanford missed the list despite being anchored by world No. 1 Tiger Woods. Scott is mentioned as the game's top player under the age of 30 by the article.
