THREE UNLV MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS HONORED BY MPSF
November 9, 2006
Sophomore Lamar Neagle earns first-team honors, Paterson second-team.

Three UNLV men’s soccer players were honored Thursday by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, as the All-MPSF teams were announced as voted on by the league coaches.

Sophomore midfielder Lamar Neagle garnered first-team accolades after leading the Rebels in points (11) and goals (four) this season. His 11 points ranked him ninth in the conference, while his goal total was eighth in the league. This is the second time that Neagle has been honored by the MPSF, as he was named conference Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 11 last season.

Co-captain Nicholas Paterson earned second-team honors for his work on the pitch this season. Paterson led the Rebels with five assists, and ranked sixth in the league in that category. He was also one of only four players to start all 18 UNLV games this season.

Junior midfielder Mason Trafford was a third-team selection this season, starting and playing in every match this year for the Rebels. Trafford was instrumental in a 2-0 defeat of then nationally-ranked Denver.

New Mexico’s Andrew Boyens was crowned MPSF Player of the Year, as his Lobos finished the season as the conference champions, receiving the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA College Cup. Kellan Christensen was named conference Newcomer of the Year after helping Denver to an 11-5-2 final record.
