Thursday, August 13, 2009 Las Vegas, NV--Findlay's Cory Joseph led the entire Adidas Nations Tournament in scoring last week in Dallas, TX with 22.8 points per game. Joseph led the Canada squad to the finals of the event. Joseph received much praise as perhaps the top player in the event with scoring games of 33, 29, and 33 in key games. Keying a win against an undefeated Team USA 2011 Cory had 33 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists.
In his last two high school seasons, Joseph is 103-2 overall as a starting point guard. Joseph led Findlay Prep to a 33-0 season and a high school national championship. Prior to moving on to Findlay, Joseph was the point guard on back to back Provincial championship teams at Pickering High in Canada. Last season at Findlay, Joseph averaged 10.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists to 1.6 turnovers while leading the team with 50.4% shooting from beyond 3. He also shot 55.8% from the floor from the point guard position. In addition to this Adidas Nations event, Joseph played in France at the World Junior Basketball Championships for the 2kSports All-American Team where he averaged 8.2 points per game, 5.8 rebounds and 5 assists per game and won the events 3-point competition. Joseph had his best game against Canada with 17 points, 8 rebounds. 6 assists and 4 steals in 25 minutes of action Joseph also played at U19 Championships for Canada in New Zealand. Joseph was second on the team in scoring 14.1 points per game and second on the team in assists at 2 per game while chipping in 4 rebounds per. He played 30 minutes per game and shot 47.2% from the floor and 87.5% from the line. Versus Croatia, Joseph had 24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and had 20 points in 22 minutes vs. Kazakhstan with 20 points versus Argentina. Joseph was tied for 17th overall in scoring per game. Joseph participated in numerous AAU events for Grassroots Canada under coach Ro Russell. He also partipated in the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp and the Deron Williams Camp. Findlay's Nick Johnson played for Team USA 2011 as well. -Findlay Prep- |
