Friday, July 31, 2009 Las Vegas, NV--Nick Johnson, 6’3.5”, 185 lb. rising junior guard out of Arizona will transfer to Findlay for the upcoming school year.
Findlay Head Coach Michael Peck said, "We're very excited about the two year outlook with Nick. He will be a key part in continuing to build on what the program has accomplished and he will help us continue to compete at the national level."
Johnson is rated the #5 point guard in his class and #17 overall by Scouthoops.com, and #28 overall by Rivals.com. He is the son of former Arizona State player Joey Johnson and nephew of the late NBA Hall of Fame guard Dennis Johnson.
Johnson attended Highland HS the last two years. Last season he helped lead Highland to the state finals. He currently plays AAU for the Drew Gooden Oakland Soldiers.
Last season Findlay finished 33-0 and ranked #1 by ESPN Rise, USA Today, Rivals.com, MaxPreps.com in their final polls after winning the inaugural National High School Invitational. Rivals had Findlay #1 from wire to wire this past season. The highlight games of the season included wins over ESPN Rise ranked #2 Oak Hill, #6 Rice HS 84-64, #8 Montrose 60-43.
