Ryan Couture Wins Again; Talks Future |
Friday, January 8, 2009 By Isaac Kuhlman "His stand up is unorthodox. He's a left-hander. So, that poses a couple of different issues, but on a technical level he's not there. That's probably the weakest part of his game," were the words that Ryan Couture had to say about his opponent after his first round TKO victory over Joe Tussing of Las Vegas. The fight was the main event on Tuff-N-Uff's Fight Night III Amateur Fighting Championship presented by MTX Audio from the Riviera Events Center. Couture made the most of his pre-fight observations, and made it a short night for Tussing. |

Friday, January 8, 2010 By Isaac Kuhlman So, I got REALLY bored, and I had to put together what turned out to be an MMA "death bracket". This is a list of the Top 2 Pound-for-Pound fighters from the 7 major weight classes (Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight, Featherweight, and Bantamweight) who are ranked based on their Pound-for-Pound rank first and their ranking in their weight class second. The fights would just be tremendous to see, and this Grand Prix may be the REAL test of who is the best fighting machine on the planet. The parenthesis with type of victory show what that fighter would win by against the opponent of the current round. Take a look. |

White On Liddell's Future |
Monday, January 5, 2009 Las Vegas, NV--UFC president Dana White just can't help but dodge questions about Chuck Liddell. White announced the UFC legend's retirement following a knockout loss to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua this past April, but after more than a little prodding from "The Iceman," White booked him as a coach on the upcoming 11th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" with the promise of a season-ending fight with rival coach Tito Ortiz. |

Aoki is Dynamite! On New Year's Eve |
Friday, January 1, 2009 By Isaac Kuhlman In probably the greatest submission since Frank Mir broke Tim Sylvia's arm in half (both Ulna and Radius bones were snapped), Shinya Aoki did the unbelievable--he broke his opponent's arm via submission. His opponent, Mizuto Hirota, got caught in a hammerlock that Aoki turned into one of the most dominant extended kimuras that I have ever seen, and Hirota was too proud to tap. That was a bad idea. As Aoki said after the fight, "Well, this guy's pride just won't let him tap, will it? So without hesitation, I broke it. I heard it break, and I thought, 'Ah, there, I just broke it.'" |

UFC 108 Meets Expectations |
Sunday, January 3, 2010 By Isaac Kuhlman Last night's UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, was a fight card that on paper looked to be a bunch of fights that were put in at the last minute because so many other main events had been cancelled. That wasn't so much evident from the headliner of this card, but when scrolling down the fight card there was a real "Who's who?" of "who?" To compound on that, even writers and critics still were skeptical of this card (as I know I was), and it turns out there was good reason. |
