Heinrich YMCA announces youth basketball academy |

The Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, offers a basketball academy for youth ages 7-17. The program is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. The Heinrich YMCA basketball academy, which focuses on shooting, rebounding, defense, speed, agility, and strength training, is run by Coach Brian Sitter, who coordinates youth basketball leagues and tournaments through National Junior Basketball. Durango YMCA offers children’s yoga class |

The Durango Hills YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive, offers yoga class for children ages 4-10. The classes are held on Wednesdays from 5:30 until 6 p.m. Participants will learn from certified yoga instructors who make yoga fun and beneficial for children. The program is free for YMCA members and $3 per child for non-members. Parent participation is welcome, but not required. For more information or to register, call 839-4907. |

On Sunday at the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, the Nevada Senior Games held its Spring Basketball Tournament. Following the tournament a Senior All-Star team was selected and faced off against the newest semi-pro basketball team in Las Vegas. |

The YMCA Polynation eighth grade boys basketball team defeated the Silverton Shooters in the championship game of the 2007 Gatorade Jam Session Invitational held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. |
