March 11, 2007 The No. 8 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 293 and tied for the second-lowest score of the day to move up two spots and finish fourth on Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship played at Southern Highlands Golf Club (par 72, 7,510 yards). The Rebels began the tournament in 15th place after the first round, but climbed to finish just 12 shots back. |

March 11, 2007 On the same day as NASCAR held its annual race in Las Vegas, the UNLV softball team (19-11) needed extra time in the finale of the Eller Media Stadium Classic to edge Portland State (7-9), 3-2. Through the first seven innings of play, two runs were scored, while the eighth inning produced three. Fortunately, Kelli Fangonilo’s single to shallow right was enough to bring home the tying and winning runs. |
