Rebels End Season in 5-Set Thriller

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The 2009 volleyball season came to a close Saturday night with a 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 19-25, 25-21, 13-15) loss by the UNLV Rebels (8-19) to the Cal State Fullerton Titans (18-12) at the Mizuno Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by Long Beach State at the Walter Pyramid. After playing only two five-set matches in the first 21 matches of the year, the squad went the distance three times in the final six outings. The match was the final one, as a Rebel, for seniors Erin Greenwood, Samantha Richard and Samantha Noland.

Cursty Jackson Named All-MWC

Las Vegas, NV--UNLV sophomore middle blocker Cursty Jackson was named to the Mountain West's All-Conference Team Tuesday following a vote by the league's nine head coaches. This is Jackson's first time being named to the All-MWC squad after taking home freshman of the year honors last season.

Rebels Add Trio To 2010 Roster

Las Vegas, NV--The UNLV Rebels added three student-athletes to its 2010 lineup with the signing of Stephanie Thelen, Madeline Westman and Kaitlin Winters to National Letters of Intent. The trio will enroll at UNLV in the fall of 2010 and will be eligible to participate with the Rebels announced head coach Allison Keeley.

Rebels Win Fourth Straight Over UNR

Reno, NV--The UNLV Rebels (7-14) swept past the Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack (8-17) Thursday night with their 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-20) victory in Reno, Nev. UNLV was paced by three double-digit kill outings from Cursty Jackson, Sara Nehf and Kelsey Keeler. The win is the fourth straight for UNLV in the series and improves their overall head-to-head record to 11-to-7.

Rebels Sweep New Mexico On The Road

Albuquerque, NV--The UNLV Rebels (5-11 overall, 3-5 MWC) closed out the first half of Mountain West Conference play with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) sweep of the New Mexico Lobos (13-7, 4-4) Saturday afternoon in Albuquerque, N.M. The Rebels offense came up large by notching its third-best hitting efficiency on the year with a .301 effort. Cursty Jackson and Kelsey Keeler led UNLV in kills, as the duo threw down 17 and 11, respectively.
